How we protect your data

Z13 Astrology ("Z13", "we", "us", and also "Arjay") is built to be a calm, respectful place to explore astrology, and definitely not a data-harvesting machine. We collect the minimum information required to make the site work, and we don't sell your data. Ever! Full stop.

What information we collect

1) Account information (if you register)

If you create an account, we store:

  • Your email address
  • An encrypted password (we never store plain-text passwords)

This is used only for authentication, account access, and password recovery.

2) Birth chart data

If you save charts, we store the information you provide, such as:

  • Birth date
  • Birth time (if known)
  • Birth location (if provided)

This data exists solely to calculate charts and daily insights for you. We do not sell or share this data with third parties.

3) Usage & analytics data

We use lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics to understand:

  • Which pages are visited
  • General usage patterns (e.g., what features are most used)

We do not:

  • Track you across the web
  • Use invasive fingerprinting
  • Sell analytics data

Analytics software is entirely hosted on our own servers. Analytics help us improve the experience, not profile you.

4) Emails

We send emails only for:

  • Account-related messages (password reset, confirmations)
  • Important service updates

We do not send marketing emails without your consent. Full disclosure: We don't even have a marketing email list. We might send you an email to let you know about new features or important updates, but you can always unsubscribe from those emails.

What we don't do

Let's be explicit:

  • ❌ We do not sell your data
  • ❌ We do not share your data with advertisers
  • ❌ We do not store your data on third-party servers. We host our own servers in Canada.
  • ❌ We do not build behavioral profiles
  • ❌ We do not track you outside of Z13

Z13 exists to support reflection, not surveillance capitalism.

Data storage & security

  • All data is stored securely
  • Passwords are encrypted
  • Sensitive tokens are time-limited and single-use
  • Access is restricted to essential systems only

While no system is perfectly immune to risk, we take reasonable and modern precautions to protect your data.

Account deletion

You are always in control.

If you delete your account:

  • Your user record is permanently removed
  • All saved charts are deleted
  • All sessions and tokens are invalidated

This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to operate Z13, such as hosting infrastructure and email delivery (for password reset emails only). We do not work with any third-party services that would make your data subject to US jurisdiction, so it is safe from US data collection laws, including the USA PATRIOT Act and the CLOUD Act.

These services are used strictly to provide functionality — not to monetize your data.

Children's privacy

Z13 is not intended for children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and communicate clearly within the website.
